Looks like Thaksin’s new job as economic advisor for Cambodia is bearing fruit. Nation Channel reporter Noppajak Attanon wrote on his blog (Thai language) about the Cambodian government’s new ‘One Village One Product’ (OVOP) project. He said that it is well known among Cambodians that this project has been adapted from Thailand’s ‘One Tambon One Product’ (OTOP) scheme initiated under Thaksin (who in turn borrowed the idea from Japan). Noppajak’s blog post also has three short video clips showing some of the OVOP products on sale in a local Phnom Penh market.

Taksin did have some good ideas, in fact the only change in political ideas seen in Thailand for generations. Will be interesting to watch things in Cambodia, will he toss out the the ones that didn’t work or will ego see these pop up as well?
